|
Description
The Irish Wolfhound is one of the tallest breeds in the world. This gentle giant can reach the size of a small pony. He has a rough, shaggy coat and wiry bushy eyebrows. Colors include grey, brindle, red, black or white. The paws are large and round, with arched toes and strong, curved nails. It has a long head with a muscular arched neck. The chest is very deep and the shoulders are strong. The tail hangs down with a slight curve. The ears are carried back against the head. Height: 28-35 inches (71-90 cm.) Weight: 90-150 pounds (40-69 kg.)
Irish Wolfhounds are sweet-tempered, patient, generous, thoughtful and very intelligent. Excellent with children. Dignified and willing, they are unconditionally loyal to their owner and family. Not a guard dog but may be a deterrent due to his size. This dog gets along well with other dogs.
