Oriental
|
Description
An Oriental is a Siamese cat in disguise. Unlike the Siamese which displays its colour only at its points (face, ears, legs and tail) the Oriental has all-over colour, and with the exception of the Foreign White, always has green eyes.
Orientals are cats of extreme foreign type. Their build is long, tall and slender. They have a wedge shaped head, large ears and slanted, almond shaped eyes.
This breed comes in two coat lengths: short hair and long hair. The short haired variety being the all-over-colour equivalent of the Siamese and the long haired version being the all-over-colour equivalent of the Balinese. Oriental Longhair’s are still quite rare in the UK.
Orientals come in a huge array of colours and patterns including tabby, silver and smoke. In fact, there are over 200 different colour/pattern combinations to choose from. The chocolate version of the Oriental Shorthair is known as the Havana and the white Oriental Shorthair is known as the Foreign White (this cat has blue eyes.)
